Years 9 – 10

Years 9 to 10 at Northholm supports the deepening of knowledge and learning skills while students are encouraged to find purpose, serve others and are instilled with the determination and character to succeed. The school focuses on the development of the general capabilities that young people need to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens.

Subjects

Students are required to undertake the New South Wales Board of Studies mandatory subjects of:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • Sports, and
  • PDHPE.

 

In addition to these core subjects, from Year 9 onwards students are able to select from a broad range of elective subjects which satisfy their talents, interests and passions. Elective subject selections for Year 9 and Year 10 include:

  • Commerce
  • Agriculture Technology
  • Design and Technology
  • Drama
  • Music
  • Visual Arts
  • French, and
  • Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS)

Beyond the Classroom

Year 9 students broaden their understanding of the urban environment and life with the Inner City Experience, while Year 10s undertake a Leadership Camp which uses team building activities to develop leadership skills.

 

All Year 10 students participate in Work Experience, with programs and opportunities available across a range of interests.
