“Music is the universal language of mankind.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
On Monday 3 June, the Northholm Grammar community were once again treated to an amazing evening of entertainment from our gifted musicians across the Primary and Secondary Years during our annual Music Showcase Concert. Held at the Hornsby RSL Club, students took to the stage to rendition musical pieces they had been practising tirelessly throughout Terms 1 and 2.
Performing a wide range of music styles, the Bands and ensembles provided the captivated audience with a wonderful evening of entertainment. There were works presented from the Years 5 and 6 Concert Band, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Stage Band One, Training Band, Primary Years Choir, Senior Choir, and Brass, Clarinet, Flute, String, Saxophone, Guitar and Percussion Ensembles.
This event is the highlight of our Music calendar and provides an opportunity for all students involved in Music to showcase their talents, celebrate their hard work and gain valuable performance experience in a professional environment. The concert was wonderful for the audience of teachers, peers, family, friends and the public to hear the diverse musical styles and sophisticated technical accomplishments these young musicians have achieved.
Thank you to all the staff involved in organising this significant event. In particular, a big thank you to Dr Sylvia Morris, Mr David Stratton, Mrs Libby Cuza and Mr Daniel Bishop, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event a success and continue to hone and instil a love of learning and creative passion in our students. And, of course, a huge thank you to our Northholm Community for joining us to celebrate and support the talents of our emerging musicians.
Music is a vital aspect of life at Northholm Grammar, and the Annual Music Showcase is only one of the many performance opportunities offered to students. Aligned with our strategic pillar of Learning Through Scholarship, the School will continue to provide Music students with opportunities that challenge and support them to develop their musical ambitions.
