HSC Excellence: Class of 2025 ranked 37th in NSW

Northholm Grammar School is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2025 in the Higher School Certificate (HSC), with results that reflect not only academic excellence, but the strength of a learning culture built on consistency and purposeful effort. Ranked 37th in NSW in the Sydney Morning Herald school ranking, it positions Northholm as the highest performing independent, co-education school in the Hills District.

The Class of 2025 demonstrated what is possible when students are known, supported and challenged to achieve their personal best. These results continue Northholm’s sustained academic consistency, with the School ranked in the top 45 schools in NSW for the past three consecutive years.

This balance of academic intentionality with pastoral attentiveness ensures that excellence is not limited to a few, but shared across the cohort as students strive for, and achieve excellence. Of the 50 students in the 2025 cohort:

  • 18% achieved an ATAR of 95 or above, with 45% of students achieving an ATAR of 90 or above.
  • 31 students achieved at least one Band 6 (E4) result
  • 48 students achieved at least one Band 5 (E3) or Band 6 (E4)
  • 32% of all examinations resulted in a Band 6
  • 78% of all examinations achieved a Band 5 or above
  • 21 students achieved two or more Band 6 results

Notably, in many courses — including Chemistry, Drama, English Advanced and Extension, Mathematics Advanced and Extension, Physics, Ancient and Modern History, Economics, Music 1 and Music 2 and Visual Arts — every student achieved a Band 5 or Band 6, reflecting their hard work, perseverance and focus.

These results highlight the reliability of Northholm’s approach to teaching and learning, one that focuses on high expectations for all students while ensuring every learner is challenged and supported to reach their potential.

We also celebrate some exceptional individual achievements:

  • Two students, Matilda Cooper and Matthew Schiller, were named on the All Rounders Honour Roll.
  • Anisha Anandh, Kirralee Bray, Annalise Danks Cowen and Hoai Nam Stolee received OnSTAGE nominations for Drama.
  • Kirralee Bray was nominated for ENCORE in Music 1 Performance.
  • Evangeline Morrison received an ENCORE nomination for Music 2 Composition.
  • Sienna Musty earned a SHAPE nomination for her Design and Technology Major Design Project.

A special congratulations goes to Matilda Cooper who was named Dux of the School with an ATAR of 99.10.

Principal Nate Atkinson reflected that the 2025 results demonstrate the effectiveness of Northholm’s teaching and learning philosophy, maintaining high expectations while providing the support and guidance each student needs to succeed.

“Thank you to all teaching and support staff who have helped to lead, shape, support and assist this group of fine young people,” he added. “Your support is reflected in your commitment to them, and it is what makes us special and drives us towards consistent improvement.”

In addition, the School recognises the strong partnership between home and School, thanking parents and carers for their support over the past year. It reflects a community that values scholarship, character in equal measure. As the Year 12 graduates of 2025 take their next steps beyond Northholm Grammar, they do so well prepared — not only with strong academic results, but with the confidence, integrity and resilience to create meaningful futures.
