Music Showcase

On the evening of Monday 2 June 2025, the Northholm Grammar community – comprised of families, friends and staff members – were once again treated to an amazing evening of entertainment from our gifted musicians across the Primary and Secondary Years during our 19th Annual Music Showcase Concert. Held in the Showroom at the Hornsby RSL Club, students from Year 3 to Year 12 took to the stage to perform musical pieces they had been practising tirelessly.

Presenting a wide range of music styles, the Bands and ensembles provided the captivated audience with a wonderful evening of entertainment, proving why this event is a particular highlight in our School calendar. There were works presented from the Years 5 and 6 Concert Band, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Stage Band One, Training Band, Primary Years Choir, Senior Choir, and Brass, Clarinet, Flute, String, Saxophone, Guitar and Percussion Ensembles.

Principal, Mr Nate Atkinson called the Music Showcase “…a splendid occasion for our Music students to stage their talents and fruit of disciplined practice.” Whether it was a beginner bravely playing their first public piece or a seasoned senior student delivering a polished solo, each act was met with enthusiastic applause and support. Highlights from the evening included performances from the School’s Year 12 Music students: Kirralee Bray, Evangeline Morrison and Zane Stolee. “It was a night that celebrated not only musical skill, but also the joy of performance and the power of community,” noted the Head of Primary, Ms Erin Werner.

This event provides an opportunity for all Music students to showcase their talents, celebrate their hard work and gain valuable performance experience in a professional environment. The concert was wonderful for the audience of teachers, peers, family, friends and the public to hear the diverse musical styles and sophisticated technical accomplishments these young musicians have achieved.

Thank you to all the Music Department staff involved in organising the Showcase. In particular, a big thank you to Dr Sylvia Morris, Mr David Stratton, Ms Gabrielle Steele and Ms Grace Oh, whose efforts behind the scenes made the night a success and who continue to hone and instil a love of learning and creative passion in our students. And, of course, a huge thank you to our Northholm Community for joining us to celebrate and support our talented young musicians.

Music is a vital part of life at Northholm. Our program allows students to select from a wide range of instruments, and to advance and develop their musical skills and talents both inside and beyond the classroom. To learn more about our Creative and Performing Arts offering, click here.
