Northholm students busy with Duke of Edinburgh Award

While the holidays are usually a time of relaxation, twelve Northholm Grammar students took on the challenge of completing the nine day Adventurous Journey component of their Award. Both six Silver and six Gold participants paddled the waters of Myall Lakes for their Practice, and then continued on to Wallis Lake for the Qualifier.

In addition to paddling long distances (18 km a day), each student was given the opportunity to lead the group each day. This included ensuring everyone was safe while paddling , doing weather checks, navigating the group to their destination and more. This helps to develop their confidence, resiliency, communication skills, leadership and teamwork capabilities. Well done to the team in this area, but also doing exceptionally well in completing all the other AJ components.
