Houses
The House and Tutorial system at Northholm is used as the basis of Pastoral Care, as well as competitive co-curricular programs. Upon enrolment, each child is allocated to a House which remains the 'family' unit for school-based care. Within the House, small groups of mixed age students meet regularly with a tutor. Teachers are appointed as tutors to give individual care to the students, overseeing their academic and social development. Students greatly benefit from a close relationship with a member of staff and peers across grades. Contact with parents is an important part of this relationship.
Students in Years Five to Eight are grouped vertically in Middle School tutorials. Students in Years Nine to Twelve belong to Senior School tutorials. Each tutor group meets three times a week.
